Get started with your HA-TOY01 BuddyBear in just a few simple steps.

Step 1: Unboxing & Charging​

  1. Take the HA-TOY01 plush toy and USB Type-C charging cable out of the package
  2. Before first use, we recommend fully charging the device
    • Charging: 🟢 Green light stays on
    • Fully Charged: Light turns off
  3. The charging port is located on the toy (check the user manual for exact location)

Step 2: WiFi Configuration​

The device comes with a default API key pre-configured. After powering on and connecting to WiFi, your BuddyBear is ready to use.

Entering WiFi Setup Mode​

  1. Power on the device by long-pressing the Power button (right foot)

    • You will hear "Power on" confirmation

  2. Enter WiFi configuration mode:

    • Press the Power button three times quickly
    • You will hear "Wi-Fi configuration"
    • The LED indicator will show 🔵 blue light (steady)
    • The device will create its own WiFi hotspot

  3. Connect to the device's WiFi network:

    • On your smartphone or computer, go to WiFi settings
    • Find and connect to the network named "HA-TOY-XXXX"

  4. Access the configuration page:

    • Your browser should automatically open the setup page
    • If not, manually enter http://192.168.4.1/ in your browser
    • You will see the WiFi configuration page: HA-SPK02-WiFi Configuration

  5. Enter Your WiFi Credentials:

    • Click the "config" button to access the configuration page: HA-SPK02-WiFi Configuration b. Select your home or office WiFi SSID from the dropdown list c. Enter your WiFi password d. (Optional) Configure AI settings:
    • API-KEY: Use the default testing key or enter your own OpenAI API key
    • GPT_PROMPT: Customize the AI system prompt for specific behaviors
    • GPT_SESSION_COUNT: Set how many conversation turns the AI remembers (context)
    • OPENAI_TTS_VOICE: Choose AI voice: alloy, echo, fable, nova, onyx, shimmer

6. Connection confirmation:

  • The device will automatically exit setup mode
  • When you hear "Wi-Fi connected", the configuration is successful
  • The LED light will turn off

7. ReConnect to WiFi: a. The device will announce "Connecting" and attempt to connect to your WiFi b. If successful, the LED will remain steady c. If connection fails, check your SSID and password, then press and hold the lower button to try again

Ending Your Speech:

  1. Release the Chat button when you finish speaking
  2. You will hear the prompt sound "dong" again
  3. This confirms your recording has ended

AI Response:

  1. Wait approximately 5 seconds for the AI response
    • In some cases, response time may extend to 10 seconds
  2. BuddyBear will speak the AI-generated response

Interrupting:

  • To interrupt while waiting for or during the AI response:
    • Single press the Chat button briefly
    • The AI will stop speaking
